CP Coastal Exhibiting at SURF Expo, Jan. 8-10, 2020. Orlando, FL
Christine Barker started CP Coastal out of a love for coastal living. In the mid 90's after college, without knowing a soul, she moved from Indiana to Los Angeles to take a job working in corporate finance. Not until years later did she realize she was destined to live in Southern California and become submerged in the beach lifestyle.
Christine was voted 'most artistic' in high school, dabbling in sketching and painting. What she didn't know was that that hobby would follow her to LA and become more. After taking a course in Art Licensing at Otis College of Art and Design, something dramatically shifted and she decided to bring her underlying passion to life. There was still a tension though, the big practical question -"How many people actually make a decent living in art?" The answer to that question was "Let's find out." The good news is that with technology and all the ways to learn now days, we don't have to choose between one thing or another. We can do whatever we want, if we're willing and disciplined to put in the work.
Christine's designs originate from two primary sources - the first is from the unbelievable beauty found along the beach; and the other is from legendary music about the beach (The Beach Boys, Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffett are huge inspirations). CP Coastal's brand is described as "Coastal with an adventurous spirit and laid back attitude."
We work with manufacturers and retailers to produce designs for many different products including apparel, lifestyle accessories, tech, home decor, and more. "It's evident when walking through retailers such as Home Goods, the coastal design genre is exploding," Christine comments.
Christine lives in Ventura, CA with her husband, Brian. They love spending time in the Caribbean (off the grid), with their island family and friends. Her mission is to bring the coastal vibe to everyone, no matter where they live.
